Used to transport food to the ISS

ISS Flown Russian Food Container. This item is believed to have been made in Russia for use on MIR and the ISS by Astronauts & Cosmonauts. The purpose of the container is to transport food for space station use. Russian Food Containers have been carried to MIR and ISS via, Space Shuttle, Progress Resuply Spacecraft, and carried inside Spacehab and other cargo spacecraft.

This container has damage including dents, bent sections, and dings at various points, see photos. The container folds flat to about 1.5 inches thick by removing the pins used to assemble the sides and folding in the four sides. This container has only two of four pins normally used. The two pins are sufficient to allow the container to be put in it’s open position.

Container has a cloth pull handle on front and one side. The webbing is shown as it would have been when full of food. Crews on the ISS have used these containers for other purposes including tool storage as seen in the last photo.

Flight History: This food container was flown on ISS during Expedition 18. Blue labeling shows container as containing the personal food for Yury Lonchakov, Flight Engineer for Expedition 18. It's believed this container was flown on at least one other mission as the Expedition 13 red labeling is visible under the blue labeling on bottom. ISS inventory barcode is also visible. A portion of the Russian Part # can be seen under the bottom labeling. Labeling on this container is as received from NASA and shows various stages of removal.

A photo shows similar food containers stored on ISS. This food container is not among those pictured.

This container has no lid. Purchased as NASA surplus. This is the only food container for sale.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
