This is a CD Kit Assy used by astronauts for personal entertainment during missions. This CD Kit is NASA Class I flight hardware and was probably flown, although there is no flight history.
This Kit contains a number of components. The Nomex case NASA part #SED33104183-305 s/n 5031 is labeled on the outside of this tri-fold with velcro closure and six pockets. The pockets are for CD player, earphones, and batteries x3. The case measures 12" x 18" when opened and 8 x 12 when closed. This CD Kit also has an inside label with a different Parts ID # SED33104084-303 SN 5031
The CD player is a Panasonic SL-SX270 with NASA parts decal with SEZ-33113218-301 s/n 5009. Player was mfg March 2000 and has two velcro strips and Telatemp indicator strip on the back. Player requires two AA batteries. The three battery pockets are empty.
Also, included are Sony MDR-A34 CD Earphones Assy NASA part #SED-33104082-303 s/n 5043 as labeled on attached decal. CD’s were housed in a removable, ID labeled case that is not included.
All components are in very good condition with some scuffs. Included is a NASA storage poly bag. CD Kit was purchased as NASA surplus. There are no batteries included.
