Used for a variety of fluid collection and stowage applications

This NASA Contingency Water Stowage Bag that was probably flown in space during the Space Shuttle Program. The bag is also referred to as a CWC or Contingency Water Container. The CWC is made up of two parts, the restraint bag and the inner bladder, both are included. The inner bladder is no longer usable as the valves at each end have been cut off, probably to prevent further use. Because the inner bladder is still inside, the bag remains sealed. The bag is flight hardware NASA Part ID # 10132-10032-04 s/n 5062. This bag was supplied to NASA by Boeing and was MFG Dec. 1995.

The inner bladder is rated by the number of fill/empty cycles. The bladders occasionally developed leaks and were discarded. With the inner bladder installed, these bags were filled from the Space Shuttle fuel cells during missions, or delivered via Progress or other spacecraft to the ISS. The bags are made of Nomex, and were used for a variety of fluid collection and stowage applications on the Space Shuttle, MIR, and ISS systems in addition to providing potable water.

When filled, these bags would weight about 90 lbs on earth. The bags, which measure about 19x16, were stowed empty in Shuttle Middeck Lockers. This bag is an older generation, the type used on MIR and the ISS program.

This bag was purchased as NASA surplus. Bag is in very good condition with some staining, and pen ink marks. Remnants (yellow cord) of an attached ID tag remain.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
